Got to see Dusty Ventures, Roundbadge, Arch Duke, McSeanerson, Longbow(?) and other OPPOnians. Hiked a bunch to 4 stages of the rally. I think one of the other guys said his GPS reading yesterday showed we walked 14 miles. I’ll need to reset the calibration for my FitBit. I walked roughly 5 miles Friday after driving 180 miles to meet up with my friends from Cleveland. I have about 300 pics in two cameras and a handful of bad iPhone pics. Until I get the pics sorted all you can see is a few of them. Sorry, I had to do grouting on the kitchen tile job before I can sort the others. The hiking trails were so hilly that I think yesterday alone we did the equivalent of taking the stairs in 4 fifty floor buildings.

To give you an idea of what the roads and trails were like. We hiked for 1 hr and 20 minutes to travel 4 miles across terrain. We were able to get a ride back to the car and that still took 12 minutes. This was the easier hiking trail as far as being a little flatter but had many more switchbacks. It still had a few sections where you stood at the bottom and looks up a trail that was like climbing a wall. I figure a few hills were 30% grades. We got to travel part of a stage after the last run and it was just as twisty as the hiking trails.

Was good seeing you again, as well as meeting other Opponauts (Dusty, Yamahog). I didn’t get to meet the others in attendance.

The trip for me was the result of a frenzy of planning on Thursday right after my weekend suddenly freed up. I wish I could’ve hung out longer, but we had to leave by 3 Saturday.

If the event happens again next year, my schedule will be planned around this race. It was the first rally for me as well as the friend I attended with, and he’s already said he’s in for next year.

Great seeing you, we’ll have to make sure we hang out at some Cars & Coffees this summer. The 3 Cleveland guys I traveled with this weekend have been going to rally races for over 10 yrs. They’ve been to so many years of the Sno Drift and Susquehannock races and had great stories. I learned to order a pattimelt and skip the Alfredo (inside joke) in cheap restaurants in northern Michigan during the Sno Drift. It was a great time I think they got me hooked. I could have been to a car show this weekend but this was more exciting and the workout was a bonus. If we all go next year we should all meet up. I ran around with a Mazda Speed3 plus 2 WRX all weekend and those are some great driving roads down there, was awesome.

One of those WRX’s checking in. It was great to see you Dave and we’re confident you got a better rally experience than sitting at the spectator zone all day.
That’s one thing I love about this type of motorsport: it takes work and desire to see it properly. It’s a big-game hunt for the best vantage point to get your shot of a race car in action and throwing dirt.
Now, lets see if I can figure this Oppo thing out so I can start posting. I’ve got some articles that I want to write.

LOL, great to see you here. Its just as good a crew of people as our old Audi crew, in fact maybe better. There a some Subaru fans here too. Just keep replying to some posts for a while and eventually you get added to the OPPO pages. You may need to search for how to get added and send a request to an administrator but you need to prove you are worthy before getting added, When you do ask you just find a prior link from and admin and ask to be an author. If you have some pictures you can get on Photography.kinja.com as well. That probably the simplest 1st steps here. Then I can probably get you added to the Cigar Lounge. If you get to the Cleveland Cars and Coffee there are a couple of other authors that show up a few times a year. You need to click on my name to follow me and sometime add Roundbadge or The JWT who are also locals.
